MEET THE DOCTORS

Dr. Denisse A. Lopez de Chacon

Dr. Miroslava Garza

Dr. Denisse A. Lopez de Chacon was raised in the Rio Grande Valley and is a Therapeutic Optometrist and Optometric Glaucoma Specialist with nearly a decade of experience in comprehensive eye care. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas Pan American, graduating Cum Laude with double minors in Chemistry and Medical Spanish. She went on to complete her Doctor of Optometry degree at the University of the Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry, where she received the Clinical Excellence Award and again graduated Cum Laude.

With advanced clinical training in fitting specialty contact lenses for keratoconus and other corneal conditions, as well as expertise in myopia control and the diagnosis and management of diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and dry eye disease, Dr. Lopez is dedicated to delivering meticulous, evidence-based care. She is excited to offer low vision services to patients who need extra support to maximize their sight and independence.

Proud to serve the community she calls home, Dr. Lopez provides high-quality, compassionate care to patients of all ages and backgrounds. Fluent in both English and Spanish, she is committed to helping every patient achieve their best possible vision and long-term ocular health.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Lopez enjoys traveling, spending time outdoors, and creating memories with her husband, son, and their Australian Cattle dog.

Dr. Miroslava Garza was born in McAllen, Texas, and raised in Valle Hermoso, Tamaulipas. She attended Med High in Mercedes, Texas, before pursuing her studies at the University of Texas-Pan American (now UT Rio Grande Valley) in Edinburg. Driven by her passion for optometry, she earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS) University in Worcester, MA, where she was inducted into the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society in recognition of her academic excellence.

As a Therapeutic Optometrist and Optometric Glaucoma Specialist, Dr. Garza provides comprehensive eye care including diagnosis and management of a wide range of ocular pathologies, such as, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, cataracts, dry eye syndrome, and urgent eye care. Dr. Garza has a special interest in low vision rehabilitation—with a training at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary a Harvard Medical School institution, specialty contact lenses, ocular pathology, and dry eye treatments. She has a deep commitment to helping her patients achieve their best vision and quality of life. Her involvement with low vision patients—especially those who are still in school—reflects her passion for empowering them to achieve their educational and personal goals.

Dr. Garza is also dedicated to giving back to the community, ensuring that individuals from all walks of life have access to the eye care they deserve. Her work is driven by the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to see and live their best life.

A proud wife and mother, Dr. Garza is deeply inspired by her family, especially her daughter, who is her greatest motivator. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling with her husband and daughter, cherishing moments with family and friends, and exploring new culinary experiences.
